LDBK - All School Flavor Vol. 1

If you don't know about http://radiooooo.com/ yet, it's high time you did ! It's an internet radio that enables you to listen to music from all around the world, but also from different time periods. You can find out what people in Cuba were listening to in the 30's or what those in Kazakhstan are listening to right now.

I discovered the Laid Back netlabel through one of the tracks I heard on the aforementioned radio. Every time I hear something good, I try to find out if there is more and if it is free. There are always new surprises to discover and be baffled by.

So here's a compilation earning its name well, offering tracks from all schools, with a jazzy intro that will lead you to soul, hip-hop, dub, trip-hop, a little bit of everything, as long as it's chillin' grillin'.

Ok now, take a listen, see you soon !

Olivaw - Shell

When you begin to discover free music somewhere, expect lots of new aural pearls to be stumbled upon every day. I'm telling you !

After buying the album Forest = WIN, a collaboration between the ChipWIN collective and the russo-norwegian label Forest, I had the opportunity to listen to Olivaw's music. I was expecting good old Chiptune music and was a bit unsettled when instead I heard the sound of retro synthwave, kind of resembling what you can find in Perturbator's music.

You let yourself go and imagine a terrifying futuristic world, men and women like you and me taking up their courage and whatever lies on the ground to rise against the oppression of machines, setting themselves on a quest to blow up the gigantic computer that controls us all.

Retro synthwave yes, but with a personal touch, some electric guitar improvisations that perfect the mix here and there.

So long, have a good listening. And don't forget... They're watching...

4mat - Prompt (OST)

4mat is definitely an artist you should know more about.

While I'm not an inconditional fan of everything he produces, I recognize in his music a sense of the 'onirique' category that had been if not forgotten, at least put aside for a while, and that is dreamy music made with chiptunes.

Prompt is a platform game available on Steam that is famous for being really, I mean really difficult. The contrast of this description with 4mat's music is evident when you listen to this small album.

The tracks are all peaceful beings made of bits and pieces of sounds and rhythms. It will engulf you in a sea of bliss and nostalgy.

Well, what's left to do but listen ?

I don't know.

Max Brannslokker - Spanda

Here, have some nice german techno from Max Brannslokker, otherwise known as Sonopictorial, to whose music I would definitely recommend you took a listen.

Have a great day.

Phonophanatic - Boxbeats Vol. 5

If you want to spend a good moment I suggest you take a listen to any of the albums you may find in Phonophanatic Collective's catalog. But for today, let's take a closer look at this one.

A long time has passed since I've discovered this label with Boxbeats Vol. 2. At the time I already sensed that those guys really understood how to make great chillin grillin music.

Based in Leiden, Netherlands, Phonophanatic offers a very large catalog of releases, all of which are free-priced and packed with groovy and chilly beats. All the artists present in this compilation have careers of their own, exclusive albums that you may find on their pages by looking around a bit.

I wish you well on your quest for the truth.

Pixeltune - For a While

I am in a chiptune mood these times around, I don't really know why. Maybe a sense of nostalgy for a time apparently gone for good.

Maybe.

I discovered Pixeltune and his music by looking for new things on the Chiptune = WIN Facebook group, a very good place to look if you ask me. And Chipwin, definitely on the top 2 labels for 8-bit music I'm telling you, or even a top 1 if there is such a thing.

This music is a tasty blend of powerful and energetic chiptune music and soothing chillbit sounds, sometimes embroidered with instrumentals and final boss theme songs.

And this guys says "I'm 18 and I play music with a gameboy".

Jeez... Had I known !

Good listening to you.

WJMC - fault

So... so, what to say ? This album is as weird and mysterious as its cover. To really enjoy and appreciate it in its entirety, I just listened to it while laying on the ground staring at the lamp on the ceiling, completely immersed in its eerie atmosphere.

This music really deserves a question mark, and it would deserve others if I had any more... From beginning to end, distorted sounds and samples fight for space and chance to express themselves with ethereal voices coming out of dusty phonographs. Some foggy drums try to come and say hello, making the kind of noise you hear when hammering your fists on a door with all your might while in a dream. Poof, broof, and so on and so forth.

Some tracks reminded me of the strange and vaporous world of Boards of Canada, just weirder.

Enough talk, now go stare at a lamp and then give me your impressions.

And while you're at it and if you want some more weird music, take a listen at Oligopolist Records's catalog.

Tentura - Beyond Illusion

Psy psy psy, here's an exciting and astonishing album. Produced by Tentura at Sentimony Records in 2015, Beyond Illusion contains an original and masterly crafted blend of deep-trance and psybient. The kind of album that takes time colouring the walls and putting up an atmosphere.

To speak more clearly it's been in my 'to write about' folder for months but I only found time today to listen to it in its entirety. I immediately felt as if in a goa festival chillzone. Had there been some chai tea and random smiling people around me, that would have been it...

A well-crafted album without any undertone from beginning to end, a music that makes one want to know more about Sentimony Records' catalog and also about Tentura, who seems to be such a master in the arcanes of electronic music.

Boy do I like free music, could it be the sense of life I was looking for ?

Electric Octopus - This is Our Culture

When I see a saturated picture of a purple octopus I feel compelled to hear what it has to say. And so when I saw this album's cover and the name Electric Octopus for the first time, I had a hunch and before listening, went and searched for a Bandcamp site, 'Maybe they even do free music', I thought.

And, coincidence or not, they do, and it's really good !

In a blurry and smokey atmosphere, the record begins by setting up the tempo, feeling the guitar, tuning the bass, progressively dimming the lights and diffusing the atmosphere of a friendly friday night jam session between friends.

These three guys from Belfast have a beautiful musical chemistry, translating itself in three bluesy, jazzy and rocky pieces for about three times twenty minutes, attuning themselves with one another in a perfect fashion.

And believe it or not, the next day, I met a guy from Belfast, here in Belgium.

See you after that.

The Dirty Feathers - Midnight Snakes

Here's an old one, an ancient gem from a time when life was something else.

I discovered The Dirty Feathers and bought their album at a time when it was free-priced. Later I started the Mojoteque project and wanted to share Midnight Snakes, but it was not free anymore. Brought down by the bad fortunes of life, I wistfully decided not to write anything about it... But I chanced upon it recently and there it is again free-priced !

So don't mind me but I will take this opportunity to share it with you.

In the year 2011, a band from Illinois decided to mix psychedelic, desertic and mineral influences to create a unique stylish blend which musn't be listened to on "shitty laptop speakers" as they say.

I will even go a bit further saying you never should listen to anything at all on laptop speakers unless you haven't got a say in the matter.

After this album, The Dirty Feathers released a single in 2012 that is also free-priced. Then, it's the desert, at least in the studio, because the band continues to play here and there, touring the small stages and small smokey bars mostly in the US, keeping a roots attitude that so many bands tend to lose when they get bigger.

Their catalog remained almost empty for several years, but who knows ?

Well, if you start following their Bandcamp page or La Mojoteque, you'll be the first to know when they lay a new album.

In the meantime, have a good one.

Sabanas - Ascension

J. Sabanas from Flanders, Belgium makes "druggy ambient hypnotic beats", the kind of music that expresses the state you're in when you get engulfed in a sofa in front of the hearth after having a good plate of mashed mushrooms, without sausage and applesauce (oh no ! some will say).

Sabanas will take you to a dream-state with rhythms that are sometimes slow and deep, sometimes broken in little pieces, hypnotic melodies that feel like being alone and barefooted sunday morning on a carless highway and subtle instrumentals.

This album is out at DRLR Records, a belgian label that you need to scrutinize a bit, full of strange and surprising music, and free-priced what is more. So listen, enjoy and share.

Let yourself go.

mercredi 12 octobre 2016

bioLuMigen - ...ua.ka.r.ak.au...

From the depths of California, bioLuMigen returns (ok, he was already back since may) with, as usual a very small but precious album, with this time a name that's hard to read and pronounce !

Back with his particular style and sonorities which, even with thorough and hard research I could not find anywhere else. It's like a journey at the speed of light between the death valley and medieval China countryside, side to side with Lao-Tseu pleading the cause of bees, trees, whales and snails.

An album from bioLuMigen is something quite rare and beautiful, so do not hesitate to feed him a little donation, to add it to your collection of dream music, to share it with your friends, it's really one of a kind.

If you need more (I know I do), go visit his Soundcloud.

Elekwent Folk - Northern Lights

Hello and welcome in october, a month that has little to nothing special about it, so we'll try to get it an unusual additional groove. And we'll begin right away with Northern Lights, an already ancient LP by some Vancouver-based Elekwent Folk.

This is old-school hip-hop, singing and rapping between the woods and the streets on various subjects such as light, forests, butts, love, beach, poetry... The two 'emcees' A-Ro and Slippery Elm get comfortable and let loose on the beats carved lovingly by AstroLogical in the überchill tradition, with some nice featurings here and there.

I found this perfect rapping gem by looking for free folk music, you never know...

Smaakelijk.

Beatween - The Ocean Between Us

When DLoaw & Co. specially recommends an album, you never get disappointed, and here's another proof with the debut album from Beatween, a duo from "between Québec and Switzerland" made of Raycord's electronic textures and Maël's acoustic instrumentals.

Clarinet, piano, guitar and drums dance and blend in each other on downtempo beats made of flowing liquid sound.

Not a single faux pas on this album that you may well call a love at first time (I've only listened to it once and it's not even finished when I started writing the article. But there's a good chance I'll listen to it again and again in the future).

mercredi 21 septembre 2016

VA - Resonant Heart

Resonant Heart is the follow-up compilation to Resonant Mind, which is also free-priced. Where the first one concentrated on thought, spirit, their immortal nature and the infinite which only them can hope to touch ; this present one goes back down to earth, to the core of the planet and human beings, to shake our hearts and make them resonate with strange rhythms, and melodies that go back and forth between the skies with thousands of stars, and the pools of mud with thousands of tadpoles.

The talent of all these artists combined creates a unique atmosphere, a blend of styles. Desert Dwellers welcomes us, chanting from far away, Kalya Scintilla plunges us into mystical swampy grounds, Mr Squatch digs for spices that titillate our nostrils and enable space travel, Gibson lets us try his laser harp, Biolumigen bids us farewell with his peculiar style...

This album found while looking for more free music from Mr Squatch has a lot of good surprises in reserve.

I only found one little thing I did not like, but so small it serves no purpose to talk about it.

Focus on what is good.

mercredi 14 septembre 2016

Mr Squatch - Please Squash

I discovered Mr Squatch's music with the track 'Regrowth' on the 'Up The Duff' compilation. It's been quite a long time and I never took the time to look further until today, when I stumbled upon this collection of Squatchtastic hits of 2008-2011-ish.

His musical style immediately made old memories come back to me, memories of a sizzling hot beach dotted here and there with a bit of shriveled trees, a big stage close to the water, adorned with an enormous sound system on both sides, shaped like a mystical swamp-dwelling creature, guardian of the primordial mojo. And the sound it made was so perfect, so typical, swirling and swinging, deep...

Please Squash takes its roots firmly on a solid base of techno music, stretching its electronic tentacles in all directions, from deep to psy to tech-house, with some discreet glitchy influences here and there.

Dedicated to those still looking for summer.

New Apple Taste - The Brand

It has to be said, bands from Canada do have a nice sense of rhythm. After X-Ray Zebras and The Stormalongs, New Apple Taste is the third canadian group I know that has graciously decided to get involved in the free music business.

Hailing from Montréal, these five musicians and two MCs (or emcees, as they like to say it) like to get down and play jazzy funky groovy rock instrumentals with screaming guitar solos, sax and his brass friends (and his problems with the law), drums getting crazy, in an overall atmosphere of pure musical affinity, which sometimes feels like a jam session recorded in a smokey back room in a bar somewhere, with sometimes rapped lyrics getting along.
Which by the way made me think a bit about the X-Ray Zebras, but just a bit.

Feels like a night at the stray cats' crib, with electricity and hip-hop added.

Jake Kaufman - Shovel Knight Original Soundtrack

It's not usual at all that I make a bit of advertising for a video game on a blog dedicated to music, but well... Shovel Knight is the latest game I've played, since I'm very much into independent games also, and its music has been stuck in my head ever since. Impossible to pry out !

I was really and pleasantly surprised to see this OST is free-priced, with regards to its quality. Note to all those Rockman/Megaman nostalgics, and other great action classics. Smells like platform spirit, boss battles, cleaving through hordes of enemies, rushing to save the day. But specifically, smells like shovel, shovel justice.

I don't really need to argue about the game, the music will do that on its own.

2D is life.

Tetra Hydro K - Labotomie

It breathes heavy, it breathes fresh. A delicious magical electronic potion, a blend of dub, of psy, of electronica, very refreshing, if I must repeat myself during those days where we can but claim our right to more sun.

Dr. Kanay and Dr. Krilong invite us to discover the new advances about biochemicomusicology they recently made in their secret lab, conveniently named Tetra Hydro K. Shuffling between live instrumentations and electronic components, the two MDs discovered it was possible to cleanse a human brain using only the finest ingredients such as basses, organic rhythm, far-reaching melodies and strange out-of-nowhere samples.

Out at ODGProd, the netlabel whose name I barely manage to write correctly, Labotomie is a surprising album, to be listened to without any moderation, for all the lovers of music, be it electronic or not, but like, still more yes, you know...

Download the album directly on ODGProd's website by following this link (and by clicking "download").

Subaqueous - ReCreate

Hear hear ! Gentle people of the Internet. I present unto you, ReCreate by Subaqueous, a journey deep into swampy soundscapes, phosphorescent algae-ridden mountaintops at the bottom of the ocean, crashing waves and the songs of whales.

ReCreate is actually a remix album of track by Subaqueous made into something fresh by friends with mucky names such as Moon Frog, Bogtrotter, Yaima, Skytree and a bunch of others. A great occasion of discovering Subaqueous' sounds through other minds and also to get a number of new names in the free music world.

You wouldn't believe, sometimes you just have to type in "artist name + Bandcamp" and then you only need to name any price you want.

Note : It does not work with all the musicians in the world.

Let's listen and go to far away places now.

Kalpataru Tree - Preverberations From The Infinite Future

Today and once again I want to share with you an album from a very inspiring artist of whom I've already spoken before, but whose art makes me float in the air with each and every step forward it takes.

Kalpataru Tree has become one of my favourite artists, and is, in my opinion unavoidable in the psydub scene today, of which he successfully makes himself the avatar with a blend of tweaked up instrumentals, rhythm boxes, deep layers of bass to sustain the whole and dreamy velvet melodies floating in space, faithful to his own style.

Preverberation From The Infinite Future, with its impossible to pronounce name and its cover reminiscing of an episode from Ulysses 31 unleashes long threads of psydub able to calm down the most reluctant souls, to make the laziest among us able to touch the stars.

Listen without moderation is all I have to say in the end.

See you later.

Love.

Tough Crowd - We're All in This Together

Well, what can I say ? It's about life, ups and downs, good times, bad times, people, talking, being polite, suspicious, fresh, groovy, all in an upbeat frame where beats always fall into place exactly at the time you wanted them to.

Complex instrumentals, chilly vibes and an atmosphere of friends getting together to slide their flowing lyrics on good beats.

Noticed how I'm always talking about atmospheres ? Well, it's because I think that that's what music is about.

See you later.

Lost In Sound - VA Compilation #004

It's quite hard to write a little review on this profuse and rich release of 45 tracks (yes, 45, you read right) in such a variety of styles... There is a bite of everything, glitch, techno, electro, piano, dub, dubstep, psydub, you name it... There are also killer bots with laser sight, but you'll hear them soon enough. I better warn you though, that their unique eye can cut through about any material, so watch out.

This compilation was put into being by the Lost In Sound collective as a means of celebrating the comeback of their website and online musical catalog in 2015 (in spring, as you can guess). After contacting more than a hundred artists, they were sent those fourty-five pearls of musical craftsmanship. And there goes a collection of tracks shifting gracefully between up and down, light and dark, bounce and flow. Trippy, futuristic, strange, shwifty...

And entirely free of charge !

You can spot some names we already talked about some times like Mindex, Pericles, bioLumigen, Erothyme and Kalpataru Tree. So much tracks to add to my playlists I cannot even begin to think about it clearly. Ah, if playlists could talk...

Well I'll leave you on this very interesting thought. See you next time.

Oh and don't forget to take a look at LIS's website, there are many a musical pearl to find there. Not all is free, because they do not specialise in that field, but there are some very good things to find. I've just begun to dig the vein myself...

Kanka - Abracadabra (Chapter I)

With productions in genres such as Roots, Dub, Stepper and Dubstep, OGDProd has made itself quite a little sunny spot to lay off and produce quality music for the great pleasure of our ears. They produce artists already quite well-known such as Panda Dub, the surface of whom we already talked about, and soon a bit more.
Kanka gives us an album filled with an atmosphere of voodoo bayou swampy grounds inhabited by talking snakes dabbling in black magic. Big dub, a little step, joyfully testing the solidity of your sound monitors and subwoofers with basses made to crack the earth and chthonian lasers hailing from the underworld.

As for ODGProd, we'll talk a bit more about them later in an article that only deals with them, their catalog, what they do, what they are, etc. In the meantime I give you some interesting links if you want to better discover them by yourself.

One last thing. Please do be careful not to get your free downloads from Bandcamp when you do not want to donate, if you can help it. The artists actually have to pay for a certain quantity of those "name your price" downloads, so in the end, if everybody types in 0$ and gets the albums for free this way, it will cost the artists. Thank you.

Here are the useful links :

ODGProd's website.
ODGProd's Facebook page.
Kanka's Facebook page
Link to download Abracadabra (Chapter I) for free.
Kanka's Bandcamp page (to name your price).

See you 'round.

Diligent Fingers & B3NBi - Smoke in The Jazz Lounge

Welcome in that smoky jazz lounge. What does jazz music means in one word for you ? That's what is going to be talked about here. A shy guy on the stage suggests we take the time to listen to a bunch of jazzy hip-hop tracks. And I say we give it a go. Let's listen, let's talk, let's enjoy.

A whole atmosphere is created. It smells like cigars, whiskey and the streets. Pour yourself a glass. It's on the house.

Kratos Himself - An Imaginarium Remixed

Before going forward and exploring the rest of his discography in articles to come, I suggest we take a close look on this remix album, that is more or less a follow-up to "A Town Called Imaginarium" and the last part of his "Imagination" series, which I shared (and discovered) only recently.

Inside we find strange and mysterious atmospheres, deep layers of dream-woven soundwaves and ghostly voices.

Five of these tracks are new and, I guess, should have been on the original album. The other four are remixes made by artists both obscure and exceptionally gifted in the art of taking musical notes and making them whirl in the air like again and again.

To be listened in complete tranquility.

PERTURBATOR - I am The Night

Eighties retro electronic vintage synths. It's actually pretty easy to describe this album just by writing the tags it's labelled with on Bandcamp. Do you remember the eighties and nineties ? Where synthesizers ruled the world as omniscient masters, day and night ? But especially night. Well, me neither, but I guess it pretty much resembled the atmosphere distilled through Perturbator's "I am The Night".

This producer from Paris executes a pretty amazing revival of old-school synthwave music. You'll get what you see on the cover, and the intro will do its job finely, introduce you to a dark, violent and futuristic world.

I can but recommend every single one of his albums. They all radiate with that particular atmosphere that reminds me of Iron Maiden's "Somewhere in Time".

See you in hel... hrm, I mean, the future.

mercredi 4 mai 2016

101 - Music

101 is in my opinion the artist that represents best the free underground presence of the Braindance style.

Changing between frenetic rhythms and old-school synths reminiscing of the short-lived glory of the Dance music of the 80's and 90's, this album lifts us up in the air, then plunges us down into the earth, near the lava core of the planet, then makes us soar up again to the flying cities of the future that we all have seen somewhere in a waking dream.

Like all the albums out at Cold Tear Records, you may buy it on their Bandcamp to get the high-quality lossless format, or download it in .mp3 via the "Archives.org" link on the page featuring the album. Your choice. I bought it to show support to one of my favourite artists in the electronic music world.

mercredi 27 avril 2016

VA - First Light

This album I like. Very much. I've been listening to it in a loop for three days straight. Oh three very unproductive days they were, and I almost went crazy at some times, but First Light helped me get around it. The sun was shining, the chill was chilling and that was all that mattered.

Out at Expansions Collective, this compilation will take you to new heights of hip-hop and urban chill, that style of music that strangely makes me want to live in the city, whereas I thought that thought would never linger in my head. Go figure.

Saxophone, piano, hip-hop, the whole finely blended and beautifully crafted.

Perfect.

mercredi 20 avril 2016

Sephira - Monkey Tales

State-of-the-art deep-trance, also called deep-tagada by the true goalords of ancient times. It was made to rumble the soul from the inside with cosmic vibration that go through dimensional planes with ease to get to the one where you're at right now.

If you like that kind of music I can recommend the albums Inner Thoughts by Cabeiri and Random Friday by Solar Fields (but those aren't free mind you).

mercredi 6 avril 2016

Chronos - Technologia

Here is an absolutely flawless album, perfect, sublime. I just cannot get tired of it although I'm really trying. And I will probably add each and every track that composes it to the psybient/psydub playlist, because they are so... You know.

Chronos is one of the few artists at Mystic Sound Records who puts his albums at a free-price, whereas in fact his talent really has no price.

I'll let you judges.

Special mention to the tracks "Planetarium" and "Swinging Satori" that make my humble mortal soul shiver.

mercredi 30 mars 2016

Weekend Cult - Weekend Cult

To end this month of march in a beautiful fashion, I suggest listening to some groovy hip-hop, whaddya think ? I discovered this album when it was suggested to me while I was buying an album by Al Lover, producer of electronic and psychedelic beats. There are always nice discoveries to make when you buy something on Bandcamp, here's the proof.

It's old-school, no gangsta anywhere near here, no fat electronic beats turning our youths into savage warmongers, only rhythms, rimes, flow, poetry, subversive lyrics that do not become a boring course on morals and ethics. It goes up all at once, and it does not come down, even after the end you still feel the heat of the city in the afternoon, watching friends playing football with a tin can.

I hate tin cans.

mercredi 23 mars 2016

Fortune Howl - Spectrum Analysis

This is the kind of album that will make you go like "What the hell is going on here ?!", one of the first that made me want to create a tag specially made for albums impossible to classify. Broken rhythms, noises from glasses of whiskey making love, dreamy soundscapes in the back, well, it's kind of hard to describe, so I'll let you try for yourself. Definitely worth three or four listenings before full appreciation is reached.

See you around.

mercredi 16 mars 2016

il:lo - Places

Out on the belgian label DLoaw & co. which already did great things like the first and second Secret Garden compilations, Places is a flawless album in which il:lo drags us with him to a world of sunsets, sweet darkness and brass, inhabited by ghostly trumpets and lost souls liking it this way.

It's never too much.

mercredi 9 mars 2016

Soulular - EvoLuminate

Soulular ! Now there's an artist you should know and hear more about, especially if you like chillstep, booming music that caresses the mind, deep dub, or dubstep with dub and step, and no killing robots but real pieces of electronic fruit inside !

EvoLuminate is his latest album, and is designed to be a tribute to all the support he received during his career as an electronic music producer, a kind of musical thank you.

Well I think the least we can answer is "You're welcome !" and then bask in this dreamy goodness for about the time it takes to listen to eight tracks ten times in a row.

All Soulular's releases are available for free-priced download, do not hesitate to go dig around and listen to his previous albums.

mercredi 2 mars 2016

Alexander Saykov - Whitestoned

Welcome to the month of march, during which it is very important not to forget to massage vigorously your brain cells every day.

To do so, I suggest listening the latest album by Alexander Saykov, out at Cold Tear Records, well known for the great quality of every release they produce.

Deep layers of synthetic atmosphere fall down slowly on robotic rhythms and basses holding the whole together. Feels like a city abandoned for thousands of years with the electricity still on and functioning for no one. Yes, what a waste. You're right.

Download the album for free by clicking on the link Archives.org or buy it on Bandcamp to support the label and get the high-quality lossless format of the tracks.

Go with the wind.

Various Artists - Ethneomystica Vol. 1

First and foremost, to all those who would say "hey ! It was psydub last week too !" I'd like to answer "Thank you for following" but also that I'm but a man, and when I'm handed a compilation full of groovy trippy psybient/psydub I just cannot resist. I listen, I download, I listen again, I share and I share again.

So here's Ethneomystica, the first volume. If you like free music as much as I do I'm sorry to say that volume 2 and 3 are excellent but not free.

They are out at Mystic Sound Records and compiled by Maiia, who seems to have an excellent taste in music. In this particular compilation you'll find well-known names such as Globular, Yechidah or Mahaon (a guy that makes wonderful music but that I cannot share efficiently because of technical issues with his Bandcamp page).

Enjoy yourself, it's on the house.

mercredi 17 février 2016

bioLuMigen - ..:tao:..

Each time I listen to this tiny album, I bite my fingers because there isn't more. These are my four favourite tracks at the moment.

Deep, finely crafted, dedicated to the old Laozi and his universal principle of balance, everywhere and nowhere at once, always invisible, yet always there, the Tao, these four compositions reach the summits of quality in terms of sonority, rhythm and musical science. A blend of psybient and traditional chinese music.

You'll see, when you'll have listened to these four, you'll want more, for sure. Unfortunately right now there is nothing more by bioLuMigen on Bandcamp. That is why I recommend visiting his Souncloud page, where you'll be able to find a couple of beautiful mixes among with some other tracks, most of them are available for free downloads. I just can't get enough of it.

HeapRize - Gang Sign$

I don't know for you, but I am warm inside, with kind of a virtual fireplace, remotely controlled, close-by, and I'm listening to Gang Sign$, a little pearl of hip-hop downtempo that could easily become the instrumental of some groovy rap music.

After a month of automated service (thank you technology), La Mojoteque is back with a human being at the controls.

Tenemos el control.

Long live love

Hedflux - In Retrospect

Here's an album that is almost impossible not to like. Just pressing play means that you want to pump up the atmosphere, you want to dance, to move, to wiggle-jiggle, to make light come out of your friends eyes as you say to them "here, listen to this one, I found it on La Mojoteque, it's amazing".

You can also use it to test your sound system, so as to see if it can go the distance.

Hedflux is a london-based producer that specialises in what we'll call psychedelic techno with a touch of electronifying vibes and a twist of technotronic voltage power. To say the least, it moves, it bumps, it goes in all directions, and there is a great probability that you will find yourself doing the same thing in less than a minute.

Best regards.

Aligning Minds - My Heart is Love

My Heart is Love. Is there anything else to say ?

This one sets out very slow, with a track that is almost pure ambient and that will probably deter some non-aficionados, and grapple some others. But it changes pretty quick, as the second tracks plays with deep shifting basslines and heralds the following sounds in a more dubby, downtempo, deep and dreamy, with spacey rhytmics, effects and atmosphere.

Some tracks feel like a Metroid stage theme.

Yayati - 000

It's been three or four weeks since I wanted to post this one, I lost count, and it's raining outside, so I guess now is the time.

The first thing I did when I pressed play was wondering where the hell I was, if it was present, past of future, if I was sitting, laying or standing. It reminded me of a certain period when I used the tag "Mushtronic" for weird tunes with broken rhythms and strange atmospheres.

Feels like a mix between Boards of Canada, Auditive Escape and a certain touch of je ne sais quoi.

Another album that will not please everybody, but what the hell. FAAFWIT.

Torley - Glitch Piano

"Not long ago, in a parallel universe fairly, fairly close... humans imported a master race of sentient pianos through spacetime portals, using the instruments as labor-beasts and war-weapons. Predictably, these magnificent creatures rebelled and bass'ed civilization, enslaving the masses like the un-self-actualized lowminds they broadly are.

The contained aurelics (sonic artifacts) are historical evidence of such a traumatic time, and oddly, we detected halos of rich emotional spectrum — including loveliness and humorosity — amidst the runes".

I wonder, what could I possibly tell or say to broaden the information you now possess on this album ?

Deeply relaxing, while relating strange and terrible events which took place in another dimension, Glitch Piano is an album that must be taken slow, but not lightly. With each tracks the whole canvas evolves.

Take your time, don't rush in, it's long, but consider the album in its entirety.

See you in another world.
