Zebbler Encanti Experience - ReFreak

It has been a really long time since there was some Glitch music up in this... place. So I wanted to introduce a remix album of a team of artists I've discovered pretty recently on Gravitas Recordings.

The first track will keep you taped to the rest until the end. Bumpy road ahead, you will know when it begins but never when it ends. Well, some tracks even end abruptly, leaving you stranded, and some I like a bit less than others. But on the whole, in theres is a bunch of excellent tracks to add to your all-time favourites. Funky delicious grapes of groovy glitch music.

This album is made of remixes of 'Freakquency', another from ZEE that... well why not listen to the original while it's standing right over there ?

Kupuri Music - Organic Wave

Crawling and twitching like a swamp filled with musical snakes, this collection of tracks from various artists outing their creations at the mexican netlabel Kupuri Music will leave you rumbling with strange vibrations and in the mood to travel to the moon.

Lost In Sound - VA Compilation #004

It's quite hard to write a little review on this profuse and rich release of 45 tracks (yes, 45, you read right) in such a variety of styles... There is a bite of everything, glitch, techno, electro, piano, dub, dubstep, psydub, you name it... There are also killer bots with laser sight, but you'll hear them soon enough. I better warn you though, that their unique eye can cut through about any material, so watch out.

This compilation was put into being by the Lost In Sound collective as a means of celebrating the comeback of their website and online musical catalog in 2015 (in spring, as you can guess). After contacting more than a hundred artists, they were sent those fourty-five pearls of musical craftsmanship. And there goes a collection of tracks shifting gracefully between up and down, light and dark, bounce and flow. Trippy, futuristic, strange, shwifty...

And entirely free of charge !

You can spot some names we already talked about some times like Mindex, Pericles, bioLumigen, Erothyme and Kalpataru Tree. So much tracks to add to my playlists I cannot even begin to think about it clearly. Ah, if playlists could talk...

Oh and don't forget to take a look at LIS's website, there are many a musical pearl to find there. Not all is free, because they do not specialise in that field, but there are some very good things to find. I've just begun to dig the vein myself...

Electrocado - Scribble

Electrocado is one of the very first great names I've discovered when I began my never-ending quest for free music. Now, after a brief pause of about three years, Mr Bill and Ryanosaurus, great masters of glitch, psytrance and minced beats, return with Scribble, an album so good that I just cannot wait until next wednesday to post an article about it.

Scribble, I think, will pique the curiosity and pineal glands of all those who love electronic music on this planet, because there are so many genres that are present and accounted for (sir !), ranging from glitch-hop and psytrance to technoïd beats, all of it processed through a giant blender to create a true musical guacamole, which renders this album impossible to classify, for the best.

So yeah, Electro because it's elecrifying, Glitch because it's mostly glitchy in the atmosphere, and Groove because it's totally groovy.

You'll see, let yourself go.

Civilian Sol - When Tomorrow Comes

Now here's a curious mix laid here by Civilian Sol, a hybrid of glitch-hop, soul and funk. The latest technology playing rock paper scissors with its grand-grand-grandmother, translated into music.

Alternating between relaxing tunes and pulsing bass and catchy rhythms, mixing musical genres that you wouldn't have believed was possible, released at the trustworthy Gravitas Records, When Tomorrow Comes, gives a storm of sonorities that will either please or offend everyone in an enjoyable way.

PEGA5U5 - The Flock

It's been a while since I wanted to share this album, but each time I try I just cannot write anything because it's so peculiar and slips off my mind like a greasy weasel. Let's just say what's what : PEGA5U5 is the union of a glitch music producer (Mr. Rogers) and a rapper (Pharroh) who let themselves get carried away with what they do best on nine tracks. The first lies down squelchy whirly beats while the latter takes rhymes out of his lunchbox and makes them dance all around these crazy musical mad experiments.

I never tire of listening to this one, and that says a lot. A really surprising and enjoyable (like, really, man, totally really).

UK Glitch Hop - This is UK Glitch Hop ! Volume #1

You see what happens when you look for free glitch music on the web of love ? This is what happens !

Compiled by Morbidly Obese Midget (love this name), this release is an extract of what happens every evening from 10 pm to midnight on Glitch FM, a web radio that nicely suggests "saturating our ears with delectable details". Go give it an ear or two, it's free and it hits the spot, like a big bowl of electric fresh air.

While I'm at it, you don't see the UK flag on a pack of fries every day...

Huron - Pictures From The Past

There are a lot of interesting things to find and hear at Crazy Language Netlabel, after Astravel by Sk'p, here's Huron, with a long and subterranean album, raising strange ghostly atmospheres from the past to make us shiver in the present. I picture myself entering an ancient electronic xenotemple hidden in the arctic ice while listening to this music. And while I'm at it, you should definitely go take a listen at all the CL catalog, everything is free, and very... well, experimental.

Various Artists - Mind Gap

Excellent release packed with various artists doing their best to reveal the sound's soul in an etymological psychedelia.

Various artists, various styles as well. Starts with chilly psydub beats by Los Rastrillos then moves on to glitch, jumpy with Low End and deep with Mindex and Spinner. A short stop at the raggadubtechnoidontknow stand, and then back to psychedelic chillout until the end. Trippy and chilly. Just the way you like it.

Electrocado - The Hass Effect

The first Glitch album I ever listened to. At the time my brain was just trying to understand what it was all about, but I guess this magic frog feeling the nuclear Hass effect through the catalyst avocado should explain it all to you. A mix of a lot of very strange experiments on existing (or soon to be invented) music styles, this album feels to me like a musical schizoid crisis.

Mr Bill & Friends - The Collaborative Endeavors

Merry Christmas ! Joy in the house and cheese on the grill to all of you. And to go with the tofurkey here is a little treat, a 26-tracks free-priced release from Mr. Bill packed with glitchy electronic sounds he made with about thirty electronic music producers from around the world (of music). Each track was released one by one for free on Soundcloud and this is a collection of these tracks, full of glitch goodness and gnomish science.

Crazy Fingers (Somatoast) - Liberation Through Hearing

Thanks to himself, I have discovered one of Somatoast's earlier works, when his pseudonym was Crazy Fingers. This EP is influenced by the tibetan book of the dead, the Bardo Thodol, and each track corresponds to a particular passage of this book.
This music is a trippy blend of glitch dub and waves of psychedelic chilling energy.
Let us say that four tracks is enough to get on the blog, any release with a lower number of tracks will get shared on the Facebook page, to which I encourage you to subscribe, if you want  to get access to a wider range of free music styles, as well as an easier way to share and comment.

A small release shared today by Whitebear, another very good glitch music producer. Four tracks of delicious glitchy dubby chill music made to activate some neuronal connections that we're not used to feel.

Colour - Devine Moments of Truth

Tagadagadagadagada brwhiiii whrii wawawa brwhooo tagada taga brwhoooo dadada brwhiiiii is certainly what you will tell me, and I will indulge this, but just once.

It is also more or less what you will hear if you let this album tell its weird stories, which I can only entice you to do. And you will also tell me "but what the... ? this is psytrance ! where is the glitch, man ? you screwed up again !" but don't you think there is something glitcheous in Colour's music ? The atmosphere, how it sounds, it seems evident to me, there is something fun in there, fun and powerful, the right blend of glitch and psytrance, but the world of electronic music is so big, and the borders are so blurry that we could almost say anything about any subject without ever being completely right or wrong, so what the hell, let's do it.

I wish you a sweet listening, hoping this music will make you dance enough to warm you up in these difficult times. Oh ! I almost forgot but my birthday is coming soon ! I will post something bigger than usual that day, with more albums, more music, iiiiiih I love surprises !!

And to those who would tell me that there are evident drugeous references on my blog, I will answer, bound by the shackles of law, that this is far from being my fault.

Rhythmik - I Is Learning

Glitch is another of these peculiar musical genres that I discovered not so long ago while browsing in search of something else. From a lo-fi aesthetic of weird noises generated by voluntarily malfunctioning machines, glitch has evolved into a genre in itself. This isn't really "glitch" as it was when it emerged anymore, but neo-glitch, or post-glitch, something like that, a weird bouncy midtempo music with... something funny in the air about it.

Glitch is fun, a little bizarre to the ear at first. But then you want more. It is a music that does not claim anything, it is louche as hell, even though a netlabel whose name I won't cite is trying to make glitch the new ultra-hype music genre. Nothing of that sort in "I Is Learning" from Rhythmik, as you will hear. If you're curious about it, listen to track number 5 to hear a typical glitch song.
