GLÜ's music is strange, impossible to classify, sometimes fascinating, other times brutal, ever changing. I had the opportunity to see him live one lifetime ago at the late Festival de la Tour de Samme, and it was intense to say the least.
So intense that I forgot to look it up upon waking the next day. Until a good friend of mine reminded me about it, I had never searched for the why, the how, the when, and most importantly, the what.
Now I discover that GLÜ's music is NYP, so what, am I to resist? I say no. So here it is, on a platter made of simili-silver, in a room foggy and noisy, people dancing around as far as the eye can see.
PS: Bisou Jérôme.

Zebbler Encanti Experience - ReFreak
It has been a really long time since there was some Glitch music up in this... place. So I wanted to introduce a remix album of a team of artists I've discovered pretty recently on Gravitas Recordings.
The first track will keep you taped to the rest until the end. Bumpy road ahead, you will know when it begins but never when it ends. Well, some tracks even end abruptly, leaving you stranded, and some I like a bit less than others. But on the whole, in theres is a bunch of excellent tracks to add to your all-time favourites. Funky delicious grapes of groovy glitch music.
This album is made of remixes of 'Freakquency', another from ZEE that... well why not listen to the original while it's standing right over there ?
See you round.

Tetra Hydro K - Labotomie
It breathes heavy, it breathes fresh. A delicious magical electronic potion, a blend of dub, of psy, of electronica, very refreshing, if I must repeat myself during those days where we can but claim our right to more sun.
Dr. Kanay and Dr. Krilong invite us to discover the new advances about biochemicomusicology they recently made in their secret lab, conveniently named Tetra Hydro K. Shuffling between live instrumentations and electronic components, the two MDs discovered it was possible to cleanse a human brain using only the finest ingredients such as basses, organic rhythm, far-reaching melodies and strange out-of-nowhere samples.
Out at ODGProd, the netlabel whose name I barely manage to write correctly, Labotomie is a surprising album, to be listened to without any moderation, for all the lovers of music, be it electronic or not, but like, still more yes, you know...
Download the album directly on ODGProd's website by following this link (and by clicking "download").

Lost In Sound - VA Compilation #004
It's quite hard to write a little review on this profuse and rich release of 45 tracks (yes, 45, you read right) in such a variety of styles... There is a bite of everything, glitch, techno, electro, piano, dub, dubstep, psydub, you name it... There are also killer bots with laser sight, but you'll hear them soon enough. I better warn you though, that their unique eye can cut through about any material, so watch out.
This compilation was put into being by the Lost In Sound collective as a means of celebrating the comeback of their website and online musical catalog in 2015 (in spring, as you can guess). After contacting more than a hundred artists, they were sent those fourty-five pearls of musical craftsmanship. And there goes a collection of tracks shifting gracefully between up and down, light and dark, bounce and flow. Trippy, futuristic, strange, shwifty...
And entirely free of charge !
You can spot some names we already talked about some times like Mindex, Pericles, bioLumigen, Erothyme and Kalpataru Tree. So much tracks to add to my playlists I cannot even begin to think about it clearly. Ah, if playlists could talk...
Well I'll leave you on this very interesting thought. See you next time.
Oh and don't forget to take a look at LIS's website, there are many a musical pearl to find there. Not all is free, because they do not specialise in that field, but there are some very good things to find. I've just begun to dig the vein myself...

Hedflux - In Retrospect
Here's an album that is almost impossible not to like. Just pressing play means that you want to pump up the atmosphere, you want to dance, to move, to wiggle-jiggle, to make light come out of your friends eyes as you say to them "here, listen to this one, I found it on La Mojoteque, it's amazing".
You can also use it to test your sound system, so as to see if it can go the distance.
Hedflux is a london-based producer that specialises in what we'll call psychedelic techno with a touch of electronifying vibes and a twist of technotronic voltage power. To say the least, it moves, it bumps, it goes in all directions, and there is a great probability that you will find yourself doing the same thing in less than a minute.
Best regards.

Aligning Minds - My Heart is Love
My Heart is Love. Is there anything else to say ?
This one sets out very slow, with a track that is almost pure ambient and that will probably deter some non-aficionados, and grapple some others. But it changes pretty quick, as the second tracks plays with deep shifting basslines and heralds the following sounds in a more dubby, downtempo, deep and dreamy, with spacey rhytmics, effects and atmosphere.
Some tracks feel like a Metroid stage theme.

Vejopatis - Anafielas
Either you roll yourself in the snow (if you have some, which I guess I don't) or you listen to a good album... And what luck ! I might just have the kind of album chilly people would like ! A treat from Cold Tear Records, a netlabel that wants all that's good for you. Dubby rhythms, slow moving basslines and dreamy synths, all playing together to relax your nerves and allow the brain to rest a bit, not thinking about anything but the snowy peaks, yetis playing cards and other stuff like that...
Get the album by following this link and click on download from archive.org if you want the mp3 for free, or buy it on Bandcamp to get the lossless format.

Lemon Future - Tin Man
On the Keats Collective netlabel, you can find a bit of everything. And sometimes things so unusual that you don't even know how to tag them to be sure people can find them or know what you mean, well... you know what I mean.
Future Lemon's Tin Man is going in all directions. It will soothe some people, some other will dance, other will just, you know, chill. Prickly beats, synth waves standing between the sublime and the kitsch, it reminds me of a distant past when I used to listen only that kind of music, when I was a little cake.
Be sure to give it two or three chances. At first I wasn't really convinced that it was that good, but now that I've listened to the whole release three or four times, I love it.
Believe, I do.

Electrocado - Scribble
Electrocado is one of the very first great names I've discovered when I began my never-ending quest for free music. Now, after a brief pause of about three years, Mr Bill and Ryanosaurus, great masters of glitch, psytrance and minced beats, return with Scribble, an album so good that I just cannot wait until next wednesday to post an article about it.
Scribble, I think, will pique the curiosity and pineal glands of all those who love electronic music on this planet, because there are so many genres that are present and accounted for (sir !), ranging from glitch-hop and psytrance to technoïd beats, all of it processed through a giant blender to create a true musical guacamole, which renders this album impossible to classify, for the best.
So yeah, Electro because it's elecrifying, Glitch because it's mostly glitchy in the atmosphere, and Groove because it's totally groovy.
You'll see, let yourself go.
And now, le kiss goodbye.

Sint - Zonmist
A little bit more Braindance to make our neurons jiggle and twiggle. Braindance is a mix of old-school electro and ambient with sweet analog synths and ambient, on which insectoid robotic rhythms are crawling in rapid cadence. Sint really puts those rhytmic ants in a frenzy in Zonmist, probably one of the best braindance albums I've ever had the chance to listen to.
Zonmist is produced by the Recycled Plastics netlabel (of which I will talk a bit further, later, in the Netlabel section) which is composed by specialists of old school electronic music. There are plenty of free-priced albums to hunt there, so stay curious and try !

101 - You Are What You Become
This excellent album seems to be coming from the past, say the 80's, with distorted synths, nervous beats that hit the spot, and an overall atmosphere of a tramway going out of tracks into space to split the moon into two perfect pieces.
This kind of music is called Braindance, because it makes the brain tap its feet.
Yes the Bandcamp link is not free, as usual with CT Records you have to go on their website directly and click on the "free download with Archives.org" link.

X-Ray Zebras - Wooden Electro
I'm quite surprised to see I have not already shared this album on the Mojoblog, really. Discovered by Raph eons ago, Wooden Electro is a masterly crafted blend of electro, funk, and groovy hip-hop. The whole is delightly whirly, with sometimes a little pinch of rock or fusion jazz.
Each track is really delicious to the ears, every little musical detail is carefully hand-picked, and I think I should stop there before my article becomes a commercial for potato chips
An excellent release, no time to waste not listening to it.
And so yes, a zebra with antlers, yes, that says it all.

Pretty Lights - Filling Up The City Skies
Pretty Light's vibrating funky electronic music is always a good choice, whatever the situation, be it a party, a birthday, a burial or a farewell drink. Rhythms are intelligent, well crafted, the instrumentals are perfectly executed and above all, it is completely free via Pretty Light's website, putting it out of the commercial music sphere
Here's the plan : there are two CD's worth more than twenty tracks of pure delight, so it would be great to donate, right ? For that you need a Paypal account. You don't have one and you don't want to ? Well I understand, but you can still download the albums, share them a lot, and "show some love" (as some would say it) on his Facebook Page or in the comments on his website, it's always great for the artist to get some feedback on his work.
Here are the secret keys to these little treasures :
- Pretty Lights' Website
- Download the first CD
- Download the second CD
- Pretty Lights' Facebook Page

Perkulat0r - Transcension
Tranquil and groovy electro sometimes bordering on a kind of sweet and gentle neo-dubstep, but in a meaningful and enjoyable way. Just listen.

Various Artists - Cosmic Core Volume II
The second Cosmic Core compilation goes further into the depths of electronic music, indulging itself with the pleasures of electro, techno, dub and drum & bass. Again a release filled with great tracks. I wouldn't say everything is incredible to the point of spontaneous combustion, but very good in every way : energic, relaxing, spine-tingling. It was true for the first one, the same goes for the second Cosmic Core compilation, each track is very different from the others, so if you don't like one, just click "next" and hear what it has in store for your curious ears.

Cosmic Core - Volume I
I do not want to say anything useless, so I'll just let the ones who know this compilation best talk : "Cosmic Core is a fresh, double CD album-worth of original electronic
music given to you for free download. The album moves effortlessly from
Psy though to Acidhouse, Dubstep and melodic, organic Electronica and
showcases the power of the latest music technology through these
otherworldly soundscapes, straight from the furthest regions of the
musical cosmos and direct to your synapses".
Anything you want really. There are a lot of styles represented here. If you don't like one of the tracks, just try another one. They're as different as fries and peas.
My personal favourite : HousePaint by Somerville & Wilson

Mr Bill & Friends - The Collaborative Endeavors
Merry Christmas ! Joy in the house and cheese on the grill to all of you. And to go with the tofurkey here is a little treat, a 26-tracks free-priced release from Mr. Bill packed with glitchy electronic sounds he made with about thirty electronic music producers from around the world (of music). Each track was released one by one for free on Soundcloud and this is a collection of these tracks, full of glitch goodness and gnomish science.
Open your ears, let it pour in.
