Cosmic Replicant - Soul of The Universe

From the start you will know what happens. Psybient it will be, and not Psydub. For certain people the distinction between the two is hard to grasp, that is why I grouped these very different styles together, also with the pragmatical view that they both begin with "psy" as do all my favourite musical genres. Still, they are very much not the same in their essence and in what they radiate.

Cosmic Replicant's music is soothing, makes the heart and soul vibrate in harmony, and not only thanks to his subaqueous basslines. Some weird sentences are given here or there, making us recall our place in the universe : small particles of dust whirling in the infinite.

I discovered Cosmic Replicant with his EP Supersensitive that I've also used on one of my mixes, and that is available for free on Ektoplazm.

Come on, it's time to sit down for a while and think about how to save energy by putting some clothes on the house. Happy new year to all of you.

Woops, sorry, totally forgot to put in the download link ! My bad... here it is : download Soul of The Universe by Cosmic Replicant

Chris Rubeo - Ships of Sticks and Twine

Here's a little of sublime folk music by Chris Rubeo and his extremely talented orchestra, from New York !

This is the kind of music that will transport you to the wooden cottage of your dreams, with a warm stove in a corner, creamy cheese and crusty bread just waiting to be eaten.

Country kitchen buffet then.

Cheers and merry christmas.

X-Ray Zebras - Wooden Electro

I'm quite surprised to see I have not already shared this album on the Mojoblog, really. Discovered by Raph eons ago, Wooden Electro is a masterly crafted blend of electro, funk, and groovy hip-hop. The whole is delightly whirly, with sometimes a little pinch of rock or fusion jazz.

Each track is really delicious to the ears, every little musical detail is carefully hand-picked, and I think I should stop there before my article becomes a commercial for potato chips

An excellent release, no time to waste not listening to it.

And so yes, a zebra with antlers, yes, that says it all.

Balmy - Metaverse

Never judge an album based on its first ten seconds. Most people in music stores (note to the future : still not always online in december 2014) would give up after the first measures of Metaverse because they seem so strange and out of place.

I was (and still am) a lover of weird music, so I felt compelled to listen to Balmy's music (whose name was Atmosfear at the time), and was not disappointed at all.

Coming from the ancient timescapes of 2012 and from the dark month of february, Metaverse is to me a well-crafted melting pot of soothing music, weird sounds, and a walk in the streets in the city at night when no one tries to get their hands on you purse.

Old memories already. Time flies.

VA - Nibbana

Goa is like chocolate, the more you have, the more you want. Like so many times it is a pack of tracks from various artists, nicely compiled by DJ Tude, celebrating his ten years of being a DJ and presenting his new project, Cosmic Racer (track 5). From the start, track one gives away the general atmosphere. I know, it is not goa at all, it is psytrance, because if goa goes tzingiwingzschw, psytrance goes tagada, and yes, even if I have made the unforgivable blasphemy of grouping the two of them under the tag Goa/Psytrance, they are in fact very different. I am a horrible person, but thus the site is easier to read.

As usual also, I cannot really say that every single track in this compilation is pure delight, genius expressed into sound, but there are enough pulsatronic supersonic tracks to please everyone's ears, I think, I know.

Click on this link to download the album on Ektoplazm (thank you Ektoplazm).

KOGNITIF - MY SPACE WORLD

Just a perfect album. Every track is perfectly "orchestrated", every sample finds its place and each slice of rhythm is in harmony with the whole. Thus one of my recently discovered favourite albums. Yes, I could listen to it all day long, while usually I can't stand people doing that kind of blasphemy.

I just love this music. That probably explains why there was so little time between the two releases from KOGNITIF.

I can't wait to hear more, I'll keep you up to date.

Kaminanda - Gateways of Consciousness

I want to share an immediate discovery with you. While listening to a random psybient playlist on Youtube I stumbled by chance on Kaminanda. It was such an intense music that I thought "if only it was free !" and it just happens to be so !

So here's the plan : let's turn down the volume of everything else, download this completely free album on Ektoplazm and then play it any way we like, but on a good sound system. Then let's listen. Of course I could say the same for everything I share here but I know it is quite an act of faith to turn down one's own music to listen to something else, something yet to be known. I trust your musical passion for that.

Here's the link to hear this wonderful piece.

And here's a preview if you're not convinced :

Pretty Lights - Filling Up The City Skies

Pretty Light's vibrating funky electronic music is always a good choice, whatever the situation, be it a party, a birthday, a burial or a farewell drink. Rhythms are intelligent, well crafted, the instrumentals are perfectly executed and above all, it is completely free via Pretty Light's website, putting it out of the commercial music sphere

Here's the plan : there are two CD's worth more than twenty tracks of pure delight, so it would be great to donate, right ? For that you need a Paypal account. You don't have one and you don't want to ? Well I understand, but you can still download the albums, share them a lot, and "show some love" (as some would say it) on his Facebook Page or in the comments on his website, it's always great for the artist to get some feedback on his work.

Here are the secret keys to these little treasures :
- Pretty Lights' Website
- Download the first CD
- Download the second CD
- Pretty Lights' Facebook Page

My Kind of Karma - Sweet, Wild Life

What I like in free music is that you sometimes come across artists who could easily lead a successful international carreer, but prefer to begin slowly with self-produced free music. My Kind of Karma is just like that. You can almost hear their music coming from the radio station on a sunday afternoon, a sweet folk that sometimes crosses with reggae on Shoot Your Man and Disrespect, bits of banjo and ukulele, and wild life.

Press play.

KOGNITIF - MONOMETRIC

Sometimes you just wander here or there and stumble by chance on something made of pure genius. By you I mean me, and by something made of pure genius I mean MONOMETRIC by KOGNITIF. Yes I am yelling a bit, but that is just to be sure that you understand the exceptional artist hiding behind this seemingly simple name. Juicy trip-hop, intelligent rhythmics and little surprising musical details. Coming from the far away land of France, KOGNITIF puts everything you need to tickle the musical cortex lobe (no pun intended) of your friends. I did, lots of times, and it worked perfectly.

I also decided to put lots of new tags on the blog. That will get things altogether more complex and simpler. The connoisseurs will be able to get where they want faster, and there will still be more general terms for the others.

Cheers and hear you next time.

Swallows Fly Low - Only Now

Here's a little treat for the ears, something a bit cavernimal, strange, but to which I could listen in any circmumstances. Swallows Fly Low, because it's going to rain, delivers a small EP full of beautiful dreamy atmospheres, long halls at the end of which you can see the sun setting endlessly, and weird noises sprinkled here and there. This is really the kind of music I allow myself to categorise with a question mark, because it is really from another world

I'm coming back to the ancient layout for a bit, because I saw the new one did not look so good on the Facebook page, although it is way more practical for me. Well, I'll go back to it sooner or later.

Acid Cosmonaut Records

This is for all the stoner and heavy-psych lovers out there. Do you know about Acid Cosmonaut Records yet ? If not, here's what is to be known, it is an italien label created by Luca and Stefano, both very fond of everything psych and stoner, and luckily, they have both !

Started in 2011, their project is designed to promote the unsigned bands that they like and make their music available to all the psychedelic audience, to make their "small" contribution to the world of webzines, bands and labels that decided to avoid the mainstream media and commercial music.

Of course every release they have in their catalog is free-priced, else I wouldn't be writing this. I already shared two of them : Manthra Dei and Dust Storm Warning, very good albums in their own particular styles. And I will share more, because I'm receiving all their updates by email, full of heavy psych goodness, because I too want to promote underground bands, even if this is only a virtual platform.

Here are some links that you will find interesting :

Good listening !

VA - Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 3

8bit ! Glory be to the pixellated heavens ! Those guys from Chiptune = WIN just won't stop, and I won't prevent them to do so. So here it is, 51 tracks of pure bouncy square beats coming from afar and of old.

Tons of styles are represented, fast, slow, mid, you name it. I only have ONE thing to say, and that is about the choice of the first track of the compilation, my god it contains LYRICS !!! And that is a terrible blasphemy in the pixel world (according to me, that is,as you're free to think, I hope). I think it gives a false first impression of the whole thing. Even I almost put it away because I thought "what the hell ? Is that their new thing ?". But it's only one track over 51 so I tried anyway, and was not disappointed ! It's only ultimate power 8bit music. You just have to press play to see if I'm telling the truth. By the way is anyone on for a Megaman speedrun ?

Huron - Pictures From The Past

There are a lot of interesting things to find and hear at Crazy Language Netlabel, after Astravel by Sk'p, here's Huron, with a long and subterranean album, raising strange ghostly atmospheres from the past to make us shiver in the present. I picture myself entering an ancient electronic xenotemple hidden in the arctic ice while listening to this music. And while I'm at it, you should definitely go take a listen at all the CL catalog, everything is free, and very... well, experimental.

News - Back on the saddle !

Just as this article's title suggest, I'm back on the saddle ! Just a few words though.

I'm following a formation at the moment, so I don't have as much time as before to find music and write about it, so there won't be always one album per week. Sometimes one, sometimes none, sometimes two. I'll write when I have the time, the material, and a prolonged access to the Internet, but I'll sure as hell continue sharing music until I die !

Cheers to you all and especially those sharing, giving, naming prices, and to all of the musicians who decided to make this kind of project possible by escaping the world of sold music. Thank you.

News

Hi everyone, I'm here to announce I'll be taking a little break of some weeks, maybe one or two months I don't know yet, of course I'll keep an ear out for excellent releases and I'll make a little storage of new stuff to put online after this break.

You know, sometimes you begin something because you just love it, and then you give yourself some rules to better make your own stuff, and after that it's just a bug's hop away from being forced to do the things you love, and then you feel like the love is fading away. I'm taking a break to keep the love in shape, you know, the love of looking for underground releases, and especially of writing articles. Some of you have probably noted that my articles are becoming shorter and shorter, that sometimes I just translate the artist's own description. That's just not it.

So there it is, I've been sharing free music with you each week since august 2012 and there's almost 200 good free albums to download shared here. Don't forget to share yourself, with your friends and family, to share the blog, the playlists, the mixes, and to send me your own discoveries to add to the stack, I'll be sure to credit you in the article I'll write. See you soon !

Phew, now time to translate all this into French...

mercredi 3 septembre 2014

Life in a Box - Primitive Form of Comfort

French dude delivers incredible vibes of dreams, melody and passion. Thank you man.

DLoaw & Co. - Secret Garden 2

DLoaw = quality, you'd do well to remember that, because here comes the second Secret Garden compilation, which I was keeping safe just for you (in fact I had forgotten to post it for months). Packed with chilly, swingy, jazzy or dreamy tracks, worthy successor of its predecessor, this compilation is going to leave some beautiful spots in all your playlists that's for sure. There are lots of links to follow on the Bandcamp page, like all the personal pages of each artist to keep you updated about what these guys are doing these times around.

For those worrying about the fact that chill music is becoming more and more present on La Mojoteque compared to other genres, I want you to know that it's been raining all day for a whole month in Belgium, and if sometimes we are proud of it, sometimes we just can take no more of it and we need to calme ourselves, and to do so, we can fortunately listen to lots of beautiful music, it works perfectly, especially with track 7 and 16.

Seagram Murals - Arcadia

I'm listening to Seagram Murals right now and I just feel like the reality around me is melting away, the sky is closing in and everything bad in the world is trying to escape to its filthy dimension which I am now leaving. Strong rhythms and sublime aerial melodies are what you will find inside. Seems like dreams put into musical form. All his other releases you have to pay for, but I've asked him about this one and he said he was going to keep it free, so don't hesitate to donate to raise up the free-downloads available for other users.
Peace of mind.

Roots of Society Records - Advent Vibes Vol.2

Pure chilly vibes for your ears only, I don't really remember how I discovered Elyonbeats' album Milestone but I can certainly remember that it was in the process that I discovered Roots of Society Records, again another excellent netlabel, full of chilly releases and pearls just waiting to be found guilty of being beautiful. This compilation goes here and there, from urban chill to rap and always on the brink of a butterfly cocoon about to hatch. And saying that, I'm going to go listen to this while gardening a little, to see if the neighbours like it as much as me.

News

After a long while of being unable to do anything heavy about the site, I finally regained control over my electronic overmind, my computer that does not overheat every five seconds. And I can make it move again, so I decided to upload the two latest releases on Youtube, for them to be easily shared and used in playlists. I'll try to put most of them but it takes time, so do not hesitate to subscribe to my Youtube channel to stay tuned.

Juleah - Shimmering Road

Smooth-singing austrian Juleah knock on your door of perception to take you on a journey on the straight desertic roads of the USA, on a sunny day, here is what is to come if you click on play, in this album, velvet-like and necessary to your collection.

State Azure - Disconnect

Cheating with the time itself and its impossible to understand whereabouts, I'm making you believe that I wrote this article on time, whereas in fact it's already 6pm.

I'm switching to the old design now, because it's more efficient with the Facebook sharing. A picture, a sublime and powerful article, and an embedded player.

Slow and smooth, curly and curvy, deep and full of psybient chilling sweetness, you know what State Azure is capable of now that you've listened to Outlines. Just what you need to chill your brains out of everything negative, no name, just beautiful bass and melodies.

Amerigo Gazaway - Yasiin Gaye: The Departure (Side One)

"Amerigo Gazaway’s *Soul Mates* series continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never were. On the series’ latest installment, Amerigo unites Brooklyn rapper Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) and soul legend Marvin Gaye for a dream collaboration aptly titled “Yasiin Gaye”. Building the album's foundation from deconstructed samples of Gaye’s Motown classics, Gazaway re-purposes the instrumentation into new productions within a similar framework. Carefully weaving Bey’s tangled raps and Gaye’s soulful vocals over his new arrangements, the producer delivers a quality much closer to an authentic collaboration than a lukewarm "mashup" album".

Review taken from Bandcamp because I had no time to write my own. But I still have to translate it in French so it's okay to say I've worked a little.

Dainumo, Jeesh, P SUS - 3 Flavors of 8bit

When you see those names, Dainumo, Jeesh or P SUS, or better, the three of them together, do not hesitate and listen. It's always a bunch of aural pearls in their own styles. I discovered them with the compilation Far Far Away that was suggested by Maxime, a friend of mine, thanks a lot to him.
Full of groovy 8bit goodness, ranging from pure video game tribute to electronica and techno, these three flavors of 8bit really put the mind at ease and in the mood for good old remembrances. Good times brother, good old times.

mercredi 9 juillet 2014

Perkulat0r - Transcension

Tranquil and groovy electro sometimes bordering on a kind of sweet and gentle neo-dubstep, but in a meaningful and enjoyable way. Just listen.

mercredi 2 juillet 2014

Auditive Escape - Holoscape

I'm going to simply create a RSS flux between La Mojoteque and Auditive Escape's Bandcamp page, because everything he creates has a touch of genius inside. I think that is enough said, now let's press play...

Halo - Song of The Highest Tower

A bit of beautiful piano, inspired by the perfect moments we can sometimes capture in our minds' eye.

Bioscape - Living Connection

Until now, I had never heard anything about Andrew Dyche, aka Bioscape, and just when the time was right and my ears ready to be soothed, I wandered a bit on Ektoplazm in the Psydub section, I found myself listening to this album, and soon I was completely overwhelmed with delight, sorry if I always exaggerate but it is for a good cause. An atmosphere like a tropical forest, perfectly blended instrumentals. Very soft, soothing, harmonious, a real neural massage.

Interesting fact, Bioscape is produced by the Gliese 581c netlabel , on which I have already discovered some really amazing artists such as HelixNebula or Globular, so there is a good chance that there still is some incredible pearl of music to be found there... Oh, and thanks to Ektoplazm for the music they share, and for their extra-efficient sharing on their Youtube Channel.

Yeah I know, there are a lot of links to be clicked on in this article, isn't it marvelous ?

Edit : yes it is marvelous indeed, all those links, except the download link ! Sorry, I always forget, here it is : Bioscape - Living Connection on Ektoplazm

Boogie Belgique - Nightwalker Vol. 2

Slowly, let's go slow, an album per week, giving you time to enjoy every bits and pieces of it, sometimes more, sometimes less. Boogie Belgique always stays very good. Haven't seen them live yet, but that won't be long I think, seeing how they are becoming more famous and making more and more concerts, lives and DJ sets. Swingy chill to download at Dusted Wax Kingdom, one of the best Netlabels I have heard of yet.

Alic - Close Distance

Alic, the german duo behind Digital Diamonds Netlabel sign here their debut album with some powerful but moody technotronic sounds, just the way you like it. Get it for free on Ektoplazm by following this link.

samedi 7 juin 2014

X-Ray Zebras - Raw Beat

Four tracks of pure groove from the québecois X-Ray Zebras, the first album of whom is by the way an aural earthquake to discover. We'll talk about it later. Let this small step for man be a reminder of what is to come. A tender mix of electronic music, instrumental gimmicks and hip-hop. To be listened.

mercredi 4 juin 2014

Wax Triptych - A Tale of 3 Heads

Wax Triptych, a brilliant trio featuring Jenova 7 (USA), Mononome (Greece) and Mr Moods (Canada). Beautiful musical pearls to be found here, in a dusted wax jazzifying atmosphere. Even if some of these tracks are close to becoming clichés of urban chill (almost hipster) music, those three heads still represent some of the very best of what the free trip-hop scene has to offer.

mercredi 28 mai 2014

Various Artists - Mind Gap

Excellent release packed with various artists doing their best to reveal the sound's soul in an etymological psychedelia.

Various artists, various styles as well. Starts with chilly psydub beats by Los Rastrillos then moves on to glitch, jumpy with Low End and deep with Mindex and Spinner. A short stop at the raggadubtechnoidontknow stand, and then back to psychedelic chillout until the end. Trippy and chilly. Just the way you like it.
Get and preview the album on Ektoplazm by following this link.

Elyonbeats - Milestone

Roots of Society Records, a name to remember. I did not check but I think all their releases are free-priced, and I do not remember at all how I discovered this one, maybe just browsing Bandcamp's catalog. If you want to, there are lots of ways to do it. Like googling "bandcamp name your price" and finding yourself suddenly ear to speaker with an incredible amount of sonic beauty. Not Sonic the Hedgehog. You know. Milestone is so otherworldly that I will let the extra terrestrial who made it speak for himself :

"Milestone is an EP created while looking back to my day 1 of beat making. It still feels so unreal to the fact that I came this far. Some of you may know, I am going on hiatus at the end of 2013. I do not know how long the hiatus will be, could be few weeks, months, or even years, but one thing for sure is that I will return. I want to end this year with one final release and say a short little good bye to all my fans who have been showing me so much love and support.

To all my fans, old and new, I want to tell you all, thank you so much for everything and I truly wish every one of you a happy and a wonderful new year. I will still be on facebook and many other social networking sites, so feel free to shoot me a message saying "hello" or what not.

I hope you will enjoy this EP. All the beats you'll here in this EP are original compositions written by, and created by me. As always, would greatly appreciate it if you would share it around and spread the news. It was a fun ride, I will see you all very soon, until then..."

He hopes you will enjoy it. I know you will. Do not hesitate to give a little something to show your appreciation of such tremendous work done for the beauty of art. It's never lost.

Gergaz Netlabel - Beat Garden Compilation 3

If you like to vary the pleasures of life, then you love to listen to various artists. What a coincidence ! I do too ! Just like the first one and the second one, this third Gergaz Netlabel Beat Garden Compilation is packed with strange experimental sounds from afar, broken rhythms and power. Yes, power, in a way, the power to chill you down to below zero, where everything becomes icy white and glasslike like a glass asp looking to bite you with musical fangs and stimulate your geniculate ganglion to let you fly, fly, fly.

mercredi 7 mai 2014

Indican Sound - A Fine Time to be

A Fine Time To Be by Indican Sound represents all that onirique chill has to offer in terms of beautiful melodies, master crafted rhythms, otherworldly atmospheres and musical beauty in general. I'd like to say more, but if I may say, that is "all" there is to it. Incredible release. Absolutely no information on the artist, maybe because he/she is out of this world.

Get this release and/or stream it on the Dusted Wax Kingdom website.

mercredi 30 avril 2014

Various Artists - Cosmic Core Volume II

The second Cosmic Core compilation goes further into the depths of electronic music, indulging itself with the pleasures of electro, techno, dub and drum & bass. Again a release filled with great tracks. I wouldn't say everything is incredible to the point of spontaneous combustion, but very good in every way : energic, relaxing, spine-tingling. It was true for the first one, the same goes for the second Cosmic Core compilation, each track is very different from the others, so if you don't like one, just click "next" and hear what it has in store for your curious ears.

mercredi 23 avril 2014

Sk'p - Astravel

Sk'p bears will his name. Hailing from Belgium this producer takes everything dreamy you can make out of electronic tunes and blends them into psychedelic sounds, I mean psychedelic in the literal sense, I mean, etymologically. An Sk'p into another realm. Feels a little bit like Ochre, more nervous but as beautiful.

mercredi 16 avril 2014

Juleah - Entangled and Entwined

Sweet melodies from an oases-filled desert of chilling drowsiness. A voice coming from afar, guiding you, helping you find your way, not back home, but further away, where you did not know you could go before today. This is the feeling I get when listening to Entangled and Entwined, the simple and classical combination of drums, guitar and bass, and dreamy vocals. Again just press play and wait till you're convinced. I can tell you nothing more.

mercredi 9 avril 2014

Various Artists - Gem Drops 2

Thanks again to Raphzor for this discovery. A compilation stacked with incredible music that is also quite weird and that will certainly not please everyone's ears, far from it in fact. Personally each of these tracks will remain a powerful, beautiful and unforgetable memory. This is a release I rediscover each time I listen to it, Gem Drops 2 is filled with strangeness and temporal distorsions playing with sounds that would give even the grayest businessman vivid dreams (yes it would go that far... yes I know...)

mercredi 26 mars 2014

Erothyme - Circadia

After listening to all his albums, one can only understand that Erothyme is an artist of exception. This peculiar sound that is caracteristic of his own style, a quality of composition almost unequalled. Circadia, this astonishing album that continues the dreamogenic feeling initiated by Empathic Circuitry is an invitation to fly away from one's sofa to the skies and tickle the clouds, to go for a walk in the greens somewhere, to watch closely a colony of ants at work from a high-placed branch. One of my new favourite albums that's for sure. To all lovers of tranquillity : add it to your best-of folder...

mercredi 19 mars 2014

Poetic Intelligence - Mistakes & Handshakes

Just some nice Hip-Hop I've found today, great beats, great flow, an old-school feeling on top of that. It is a little collection of new and old tracks from Poetic Intelligence. Check their other releases, they're all free !

samedi 15 mars 2014

Mute Speaker - Take Yourself Apart

Another great release by Rob O'Hara aka Mute Speaker, full of chilly beats, hips and hops, groovy grooves (if I may say). Don't hesitate to take a look at his full discography, everything is name your price and high quality music ! Got to love this sound.

mercredi 12 mars 2014

Cloudkicker - Beacons

Here's another old discovery. I don't know why I did not post it earlier, because it's astounding. The name's Ben Sharp, talented guitarist, aka Cloudkicker, making all his music at home in Ohio, the result is a powerful instrumental progressive metal that can easily compete with all the masters of the genre like Porcupine Tree or Dream Theater (yes I know these are widely known but I do not fancy myself a specialist of progressive rock and metal, although I would like to...). The album presents itself like a story with a steampunk feeling, something like the crash of a zeppelin. Each track is named like the sentence one of the passenger could have said during that event. Yes I'm extrapolating, no I don't know if that is really what Sharp had in mind. But you need only listen a bit.

mercredi 5 mars 2014

V-Dizzle - 8 Bit Chronicles

I have to thank Raphzor for this one, I remember one particular night when this music made the air vibrate with magic and bits of wonder-information. This is quite a strange venture into the 8-bit world, as this is not completely 8-bit music but there is such a strong willing influence of it from track 1 to 20 that I have to put it here. A very nostalgic sound full of memories and old dreams of a childhood infused with 8-bit culture and sound, you can hear that very well in tracks 5 and 20, also my favourites.

samedi 1 mars 2014

Alek Darson - Panopticon

Ultimate progressive metal shred by Alek Darson from Belgrade, composer, audio engineer, producer and guitar virtuoso. You will hear that immediately when you press play. Powerful sound !

An there's even one of my pals playing in it, that's to say...

samedi 22 février 2014

Mute Speaker - Post Block

I wanted to share this album with you, then I realised it wasn't free anymore, then I asked Mute Speaker about it and he put it back on name your price download.

This is quite the excellent release, packed with experimental hip-hop, electronic probes cast into the depths of musical space, and still this question mark that gets all its sense with this kind of sound. Well okay I think track 6 is a little to modern pop r'n'b oriented but the rest is really worth anything you can give.

By the way I want to take a few minutes to tell you about donations. I know this word can be scary and that it seems that everybody always wants a little bit of your hard-earned money, but it shouldn't be that way.

Donations on Bandcamp help free music stay free. Getting a Paypal account seems like a pain in the @$%! but it is really very easy and fast, and then, you can really show your appreciation and support directly to all the artists of the independent music world. You can become a part of it all and make a difference in the free-music world. You don't have to give a lot, but know that each penny you give also goes to increase the number of free-priced download possible for each release (and I didn't know that, Mute Speaker just told me).

Do not give up giving.

mercredi 19 février 2014

Lucky One - IIMXI

Strange and experimental music, taking bits and pieces from every style and putting it together, Lucky One creates one amazing piece of work. Sometimes fast energic and even aggressive, sometimes slow, beautiful and dreamy, you never know what you're going to find. This one album reflects his creative mood of the year 2011, a long long time ago, when everything was so different.

Textural Being - Stories

You know what happens when you and your friends party for three days straight without sleeping ? Well, in the end everyone has to get at least some sleep. But isn't this even more tiring that, even at this point, some people keep putting those weird substances in their bodies to keep partying ? Even though there is no beer left, no pizza, no girls to hit on ?

If this party was organised by you and took place at your place, then knowing that strange persons might be still alive in your house while you sleep can be very stressful. Fortunately, Textural Being, hailing from Cold Tear Records, devised a solution for you, and that is "Stories", the latest release from Cold Tear, purveyors of Chillcore since I don't know when.

Here is what you have to do. When you begin to feel tired, when too much alcohol has made its way into your stomach, when you don't want to listen to after-party hardcore anymore and when you want to go to sleep while keeping control of your precious belongings, play "Stories", then hide whatever device is playing it, and wait for the troublemakers to fall in a profound and dream-filled sleep. I don't really know how better I could have described this release. Relaxing is the keyword here.

The Bandcamp link is just so you can listen to a preview, but to get this album for free, you should go to this page.

Vapor Eyes - Golden Beats Volume #1

The artist's description fits so finely with the trippy chilly tunes on this collection of tracks that I will let him speak for himself this time :

"Contained within [Golden Beats Vol. 1] is a collection of instrumental beats I put together over the course of the last year that I produced and recorded in my spare bedroom with my cats by my side as the moon hung low in the sky. Inspired by both the greats of the current beat generation as well as the dedication and community of the local production/DJ scene, I have put my own spice into the master recipe of this exciting time. I’m a purist at heart, drawing mainly from unique sample sources and using hardware to create my own unique vibe and sound within today’s beat scene infrastructure. Within the music you’ll find a hip-hop heart that pumps blood into the arteries of downtempo, trip-hop and psychedelic territories. This is music that reflects the moods and states one might have when they just arise from a slumber, music that is meant to alter thought patterns and consciousness with or without the aid of chemicals, music that was designed to help you just max out and encounter yourself within an introspective dialogue".

Well now, you just have to listen a bit to understand all this. No need to stall it further, right ?

Various Artists - Gem Drops

Haven't slept one bit tonight, too many things in mind, whirling bits of thought and dark matter crawling over my brain.

I needed experimental hip-hop ambient onirique chill to get better, and found just what I was looking for in this compilation. 21 tracks, name your price, all profits go to cancer research. Faith in humanity restored eh ? Thanks to Raphzor for this discovery.

All this music is brought to you by Dropping Gems. A label specialised in dreamy soundscapes and strange sonic experiments.

Cosmic Core - Volume I

I do not want to say anything useless, so I'll just let the ones who know this compilation best talk : "Cosmic Core is a fresh, double CD album-worth of original electronic music given to you for free download. The album moves effortlessly from Psy though to Acidhouse, Dubstep and melodic, organic Electronica and showcases the power of the latest music technology through these otherworldly soundscapes, straight from the furthest regions of the musical cosmos and direct to your synapses".

Anything you want really. There are a lot of styles represented here. If you don't like one of the tracks, just try another one. They're as different as fries and peas.
