Mr Squatch - Please Squash

I discovered Mr Squatch's music with the track 'Regrowth' on the 'Up The Duff' compilation. It's been quite a long time and I never took the time to look further until today, when I stumbled upon this collection of Squatchtastic hits of 2008-2011-ish.

His musical style immediately made old memories come back to me, memories of a sizzling hot beach dotted here and there with a bit of shriveled trees, a big stage close to the water, adorned with an enormous sound system on both sides, shaped like a mystical swamp-dwelling creature, guardian of the primordial mojo. And the sound it made was so perfect, so typical, swirling and swinging, deep...

Please Squash takes its roots firmly on a solid base of techno music, stretching its electronic tentacles in all directions, from deep to psy to tech-house, with some discreet glitchy influences here and there.

Dedicated to those still looking for summer.

Minimal Boffin - Averment

Let us end this poor and hated month of september with a bit of what gave its name to La Mojoteque, Mojo-Tech. Picture yourself on a beautiful beach, being grilled by the sun like a thrice-peppered soy-sausage, facing a lake which acts as a mirror for the sky on fire. Calm and relaxed, surrounded by enormous loudpseakers with a bass sound of sismic scale, you listen to Minimal Boffin.

There's an album that will please all the dub-tech and deep-tech lovers, the kind of music that resonates gently in the soul and makes you dance to the rhythm of the slow heartbeat of a giant with sand in your shoes (but not too much) and sun, lots and lots of sun ! Textural Being - Stories

You know what happens when you and your friends party for three days straight without sleeping ? Well, in the end everyone has to get at least some sleep. But isn't this even more tiring that, even at this point, some people keep putting those weird substances in their bodies to keep partying ? Even though there is no beer left, no pizza, no girls to hit on ?

If this party was organised by you and took place at your place, then knowing that strange persons might be still alive in your house while you sleep can be very stressful. Fortunately, Textural Being, hailing from Cold Tear Records, devised a solution for you, and that is "Stories", the latest release from Cold Tear, purveyors of Chillcore since I don't know when.

Here is what you have to do. When you begin to feel tired, when too much alcohol has made its way into your stomach, when you don't want to listen to after-party hardcore anymore and when you want to go to sleep while keeping control of your precious belongings, play "Stories", then hide whatever device is playing it, and wait for the troublemakers to fall in a profound and dream-filled sleep. I don't really know how better I could have described this release. Relaxing is the keyword here.

Brickman - The Dark

Cold Tear Records is what is called in French "une valeur sûre". You can always rely on them to provide very good electronic chill music. I used to listen to some of their releases while studying for my exams, but I fell asleep each time because the music was so relaxing ! If you want to study efficiently, use coffee.

After listening to a good deal of Cold Tear Records' records, I decided to place their music in the Chillcore category, a music so powerfully chill and groovy that the frail mind of a human cannot resist it. It has to chill. There are no options.

Brickman's music varies between ambient and (very) deep-tech to provide a very good blend of chillcore. It used to be free on Bandcamp, as were all other releases from Cold Tear Records. If you don't want to give 7$, you can still get it for free via the official Cold Tear website. Enjoy !
