As usual for Recycled Plastics, a very simple cover, a nice title that is not too far-fetched, and complex and powerful sounds to say the least.

This is very representative of the Braindance style. Some say it's not real, who knows ?

I just lost eurodollars gambling, so I'm using these delectable bits of electricity rushing toward each other to heal.

Telan Devik - Retro Illuminated Vol. 2

Happy New Year ! Just in case anybody is spending tonight on the Internet, just wondering what to do, what to say, what is life, what is love, I want to offer you one of my all-time favourites: Retro Illuminated Vol. 2 by Telan Devik, a genius producer from Greenland.

Telan spends his idle time interacting with a variety of old synthesizers, making them produce sounds that sound just like they barely escaped the mid 80's, while some of us just sit there.

Short but very sweet, this EP will take you to heights never before reached by woman or man.

I think if this music had existed when I was a little cake, it would have been my madeleine de Proust forever.

Still, it kinda is...

Telan Devik - Parallel VGM

That's the first thing I think about when I hear any music which genre ends with '-wave'. Telan Devik makes some pretty good sounds, energetic and dynamic, you just can picture yourself hovering in the sky on an old computer keyboard.

Oxynucid - Modular Allotment

A mystical sound that makes you travel around the tangible universe, a strange chariot stopping in front of your house, with full-blowing basslines as fuel and repetitive patterns used to steer... Well anyway, I don't know what to say.

Caution, this release begins well, but turns really bizarre, so mind you open your mind.

101 - Music

101 is in my opinion the artist that represents best the free underground presence of the Braindance style.

Changing between frenetic rhythms and old-school synths reminiscing of the short-lived glory of the Dance music of the 80's and 90's, this album lifts us up in the air, then plunges us down into the earth, near the lava core of the planet, then makes us soar up again to the flying cities of the future that we all have seen somewhere in a waking dream.

Your choice. I bought it to show support to one of my favourite artists in the electronic music world.

Lemon Future - Tin Man

On the Keats Collective netlabel, you can find a bit of everything. And sometimes things so unusual that you don't even know how to tag them to be sure people can find them or know what you mean, well... you know what I mean.

Future Lemon's Tin Man is going in all directions. It will soothe some people, some other will dance, other will just, you know, chill. Prickly beats, synth waves standing between the sublime and the kitsch, it reminds me of a distant past when I used to listen only that kind of music, when I was a little cake.

Be sure to give it two or three chances. At first I wasn't really convinced that it was that good, but now that I've listened to the whole release three or four times, I love it.

Believe, I do.

Sint - Zonmist

A little bit more Braindance to make our neurons jiggle and twiggle. Braindance is a mix of old-school electro and ambient with sweet analog synths and ambient, on which insectoid robotic rhythms are crawling in rapid cadence. Sint really puts those rhytmic ants in a frenzy in Zonmist, probably one of the best braindance albums I've ever had the chance to listen to.

Zonmist is produced by the Recycled Plastics netlabel (of which I will talk a bit further, later, in the Netlabel section) which is composed by specialists of old school electronic music. There are plenty of free-priced albums to hunt there, so stay curious and try !

101 - You Are What You Become

This excellent album seems to be coming from the past, say the 80's, with distorted synths, nervous beats that hit the spot, and an overall atmosphere of a tramway going out of tracks into space to split the moon into two perfect pieces.

This kind of music is called Braindance, because it makes the brain tap its feet.

OuD!n13 - Lost in This World

Chilly minimal tech ambient you name it. Lost between two cyclopean planets staring at you from the depths of the universe.
